Unable to fetch most recent calendar data to phone...

Hello, I just recently upgraded from a 5s to an SE. (Yes, I am that luddite that refuses to get a big phone.) My Contacts have been pulled down from the cloud but my calendar has not. It instead got pulled down onto my Macbook. How can I pull the data down to my iPhone?

iPhone SE, iOS 10

The first step in troubleshooting this is to determine which of your devices are not syncing with iCloud. To do this, add a new event on your iPad calendar and see if it appears on your calendar on icloud.com. Do the same thing on your iPhone and in Outlook. When you do this, which device is not syncing new events to the calendar on icloud.com?"

Doing this, I have found part of my problem: I forgot I switched to google calendar years ago because the syncing on iCloud kept messing up. So, I've fixed the account issue, now my problem is that my iphone is not fetching the data from google. The calendar is doing this weird blinky thing.

OK, so I found this resource that helps: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/google-calendar-wont-sync-ios-try-fixes/

went to the mac store and it passed through three pairs of hands before it finally synced. Classic Apple solution: they just turned things on and off till it worked. XD. They flipped the wifi, calendar sync, and hard reboot until it worked.
